WaWT workshop at Weißenburger Tor

It's the difference!

The concept of the "Werkstatt am Weißenburger Tor" (WaWT) is integrated into the vocational preparation year. With the "Werkstatt am Weißenburger Tor" (WaWT), you as a student and your teachers are taking a new path at school. You make products from metal and wood on behalf of customers. The aim is to build a bridge for you into professional life. As part of a holistic approach, from the first contact with the "customer", the planning and calculation, the purchase of the required materials, through the actual processing of the workpieces to the handover of the finished product, you will develop, design and experience the entire process. In addition to the teachers, you have support from the project manager and social worker Andre Merkl. He accompanies the project. The position was possible thanks to financial support from Star Care Rheinland-Pfalz e. V. are created. Mr. Merkl cooperates with the school social worker Erika Wintergoller. This assignment ensures that you can be individually looked after by a team of teachers and social workers and supported according to your abilities.

History of the "Werkstatt am Weißenburger Tor"

The idea of setting up production classes in schools came from Denmark. There are entire production schools there that serve to socialize and integrate young people. In 2006, we introduced the first production class, the “bbs-bistro”, at our school in Wörth. The success of this project motivated us to do another Production class, the "Werkstatt am Weißenburger Tor", with a commercial-technical orientation and a predominantly male target group.
